Now, let’s explore Lessons from Jesus’s parable of the rich man and his manager
This parable is found in the book of Luke’s gospel and we will provide comments as we proceed based on His insights, calling on other scriptures as witness.
Luke 16:1-17 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
16 Also [Jesus ] said to the disciples, There was a certain rich man who had a [a]manager of his estate, and accusations [against this man ] were brought to him, that he was squandering his [master’s ] possessions.
2 And he called him and said to him, What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your management [of my affairs ], for you can be [my ] manager no longer.
COMMENT-1 – Jesus is talking here about Himself being the rich man and those who claim to be His followers. We just need to remember that there is an accounting day waiting! Jesus is always looking out to see what we are doing with our time, talent and treasure.
Read Matthew 19:27-30 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)27 Then Peter answered Him, saying, Behold, we have left [our ] all and have become [a]Your disciples [ sided with Your party and followed You]. What then shall we receive?28 Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, in the new age [ the [b]Messianic rebirth of the world], when the Son of Man shall sit down on the throne of His glory, you who have [ become My disciples, sided with My party and] followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.29 And anyone and everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for My name’s sake will receive [c]many [ even a hundred ] times more and will inherit eternal life.30 But many who [now ] are first will be last [then ], and many who [now ] are last will be first [ then].

3 And the manager of the estate said to himself, What shall I do, seeing that my master is taking the management away from me? I am not able to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.
4 I have come to know what I will do, so that they [ my master’s debtors] may accept and welcome me into their houses when I am put out of the management.
5 So he summoned his master’s debtors one by one, and he said to the first, How much do you owe my master?
6 He said, A hundred measures [about 900 gallons ] of oil. And he said to him, Take back your written acknowledgement of [b]obligation, and sit down quickly and write fifty [about 450 gallons ].
7 After that he said to another, And how much do you owe? He said, A hundred measures [about 900 bushels ] of wheat. He said to him, Take back your written acknowledgement of [c]obligation, and write eighty [about 700 bushels ].
8 And [his ] master praised the dishonest (unjust) manager for acting [d]shrewdly and [e]prudently; for the sons of this age are shrewder and more prudent and wiser in [[f]relation to ] their own generation [to their own age and [g]kind ] than are the sons of light.
9 And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous mammon ([h]deceitful riches, money, possessions), so that when it fails, they [ those you have favored] may receive and welcome you into the everlasting habitations (dwellings).
COMMENT 2- You can see from the conclusion that the master praised the dishonest and unjust manager because He used his shrewdness to benefit himself. The adjective shrewd describe a person or thing that is smart or clever in a practical sort of way. The word shrewd is from a Middle English adjective formed from the noun schrewe, “an evil person, a villain.” This Middle English noun is an earlier form of our modern English word shrew. Shrewd is similar to astute as both words are used to describe sound judgment and practical intelligence. Since shrewd has a negative connotation, it’s usually used to describe someone who is sharp and intelligent, but potentially underhanded at the same time.
People who claim to be Jesus’s disciples are always looking for ways to benefit themselves and not the kingdom. They will do everything possible to benefit themselves but in actual sense, if you look at their motive closely with a discerning eye, it is always for selfish end and not selfless ends. Although what this fake disciple did outwardly looks good, but inwardly, he was short-changing the kingdom big time.
Jesus wants us to take a lesson from this fake disciple that we should sow into the kingdom using our earthly time, talents, and treasure in things that have eternal value where we draw souls to the kingdom who will welcome us into the everlasting dwelling. How great it will be if our earthly resources are used to draw souls into the kingdom like the fake disciples who were always looking for ways to draw people to cover their back here on the temporary earth dwelling.

19 Do not [a]gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal.
20 But [b]gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal;
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Let us continue to look at verses 10 to 17 of Luke 16
10 He who is faithful in a very little [thing ] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing ] is dishonest and unjust also in much.
11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the [case of ] unrighteous mammon ([i]deceitful riches, money, possessions), who will entrust to you the true riches?
12 And if you have not proved faithful in that which belongs to another [whether God or man ], who will give you that which is your own [that is, [j]the true riches ]?
13 No servant is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (riches, or [k]anything in which you trust and on which you rely).
14 Now the Pharisees, who were covetous and lovers of money, heard all these things [taken together ], and they began to sneer at and ridicule and scoff at Him.
15 But He said to them, You are the ones who declare yourselves just and upright before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted and highly thought of among men is detestable and abhorrent (an abomination) in the sight of God.
16 Until John came, there were the Law and the Prophets; since then the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone strives violently to go in [would force his [l]own way rather than God’s way into it ].
17 Yet it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to fail and become void.
COMMENT 3 – Jesus is making us realize that when we fail the faithfulness test, it affects every other area of our lives. He is saying that when we decide not to use what He has given us to prosper His kingdom, we end up losing even what we want to keep for ourselves. Those who keep giving keep getting more. Those who keep hooding, keep hooding opportunities that should have come to them in the same measure and pressed down. When we use our time, talent, and treasure, more time, talent, and treasure get added unto us in great measure.

We see towards the tail end of the parable that Jesus brings the parable full circle by showing us the picture of the fake disciples – the Pharisees – Everybody sees them as Gods people alright but God knows their heart – why they do what they do – For the prestige, money, recognition and respect – completely for themselves just like the shrewd manager in the parable.
Jesus made a profound conclusion that the fake disciple will be blown away because aggressive people will make it into the kingdom and God is not going to lower His standard for some fake disciples like the Pharisees to come with their wrong, unholy motives.
Remember, there are modern-day Pharisees and Sadducees amongst us – Be discerning in your outlook.
Questions for you and for me are as follows: Are we fake disciples or true disciples of Jesus? Are we willing to make the kingdom of God priority or the kingdom of the world? Are we going to be faithful in this finite part of eternity called earth or remain unfaithful and lose an infinite eternity where there is no end? Jesus is reminding you and me that the way that leads to life is very narrow, despite the fact that many are pressing into it, few will make it. It is not a popularity disobedience contest but a contest of the unpopular obedient ones. May the Lord touch us all to hold on and hold out to the very end of the age in Jesus name, amen
Now, let’s us explore How to help people with persistent and uncontrollable Anger, Anxiety and Worry Issues
ANGER
DEFINITION: Anger is an emotional reaction to what you perceive to be a displeasing situation or event, one where you have been offended, wronged, denied, or been a victim of an injustice.
FACTS ABOUT ANGER: Anger can be positive. Anger is not always wrong. Some anger is good. Positive anger is motivated by unselfishness and is directed against an injustice or wrong behavior. Jesus demonstrated righteous anger in cleansing the temple (Mark 11:15 and 17) and in His response to the Pharisees and their attitudes towards the healing of an infirm man (Mark 3:5).
Improper anger is sin. Improper anger results in aggressive acts of violence, rage, fury, and wrath. Improper anger is sin.
You need help with your anger when you are so angry that you are out of control; when you suppress anger and redirect it against others or yourself; or when anger results in bitterness, resentment, and hostility.
Mistaken assumptions often lead to anger. You may be angry about something that really didn’t happen the way you think or were told it did. You may also make false assumptions about a person’s motivation for doing something.
Anger comes from within. You cannot blame your anger on someone else because “..out of the overflow of the heart, his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). While you cannot control another´s actions, you do have a choice in your own emotional responses
Anger opens the door to other negative attitudes. Anger opens the door for the enemy to come in with other negative emotions and attitudes. “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold” (Ephesians 4:26-28). A foothold is “a firm or secure position that provides a base for further advancement” (American Heritage Dictionary). If you don´t deal with anger in a timely manner, it opens the door to Satan and leads to other negative emotions like resentment, bitterness, and hated. Uncontrolled anger gives birth to more anger.
Anger can kill. Anger affects respiration, blood pressure, the heart, nervous system, and the muscular system. Anger can kill you or cause you to lose control and kill or injure someone else. Anger is not only an emotional and health issue, it is also a spiritual issue.
DEALING WITH ANGER:
Confess anger as sin. Confess improper anger as sin and ask God to forgive you. Take personal responsibility. Do not try to make other people responsible for your anger, ie, “I have Uncle Harry’s temper.”
Spend time praying regarding your anger. Make your anger a matter of serious prayer, asking God to help you at the start of each new day. Surrender your emotions to the Holy Spirit. Ask God to remove the roots of anger that are growing inside you. Be on guard, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled” (Hebrews 12:15). Ask God to change your heart because “..out of the overflow of the heart, his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45).
Analyze the root cause of your anger. What circumstances tend to set you off? Why are you so angry? Is it a learned pattern of response? Destroy the root and kill the fruit.
Practice forgiveness. Unforgiveness is often a root cause anger. Ask God to forgive you, forgive yourself, and then forgive others who have wronged you. As long as you harbor unforgiveness, the person you are angry with is controlling you. Matthew 6:14‑15 states: For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.@ You may need to confront the person you are angry with by using the steps given in Matthew 18:15-17. Whether the other party repents of wrong or not, you will benefit by knowing you did the right thing
Redirect your anger. Positive directed anger can be a useful tool–for example, anger which motivates a person to strive toward good, like getting laws changed to stop child abuse. Positive anger finds ways to correct wrongs for the good of society. The organization MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is an example of what can be done with positive anger that is focused on a purpose. If you find yourself becoming angry, ask God to show you ways that your anger can be channeled for good.
Learn how to communicate. Research has proven that when a person is shouted at, he usually shouts back. With patience and practice, you can calm an angry person with your tone of voice. When someone upsets you, calmly talk to them about how you feel. Learn to express yourself better. Don’t react before you think. Before speaking, ask yourself if what you are going to say will help or hinder. Ask God to help you remain calm. Expend energy to deal with the problem, not to fuel an emotional response.
Walk away. Remove yourself from the situation or problem until you can respond without anger. Choose to walk away: Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way (Proverbs 4:14‑15).
Do not maintain friendships with angry people. “Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared” (Proverbs 22:24-25).
Fix your mind on God. Fix your mind on God instead of what is causing your anger: “You–God–will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Isaiah 26:3‑4). Much that you are angry about is temporal with no eternal ramifications
Think about situations that have caused you anger or that might arouse your anger in the future and pray about how these should be handled.
Immerse yourself in the Word of God. Memorize scriptures concerning anger.
WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT ANGER:
In your anger do not sin. (Psalm 4:4)
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath. (Psalm 37:8)
A quick-tempered man does foolish things. (Proverbs 14:17)
A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. (Proverbs 14:29)
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs 15:1)
A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel. (Proverbs 15:18)
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. (Proverbs 22:24-25)
Wise men turn away anger…A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. (Proverbs 29:8 and 11)
An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins. (Proverbs 29:22)
For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife. (Proverbs 30:33)
Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment…(Matthew 5:22)
In your anger, do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold. (Ephesians 4:26-27)
You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
(Colossians 3:-8)
I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. (1 Timothy 2:8)
Make every effort to live in peace with all men. (Hebrews 12:14)
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. (James 1:19-20)
ANXIETY AND WORRY :
DEFINITION: Anxiety is the state of being troubled with fearful, distressing thoughts and worrying about real or imagined problems.
FACTS ABOUT ANXIETY AND WORRY:
Anxiety and worry express unbelief. Anxiety and worry are manifestations of a carnal nature expressing doubts in the ability of God to handle situations.
Anxiety and worry do not change anything. Through fretful thoughts you cannot add one hour to your life, so why worry? (Luke 12:25-26).
Anxiety and worry affect your health. Anxious, worried people may suffer nervousness, sleeplessness, headaches, and panic attacks–the long-term effects of which can affect vital organs.
Anxiety causes you to lose spiritual focus. Anxiety changes your focus from the eternal to the temporal. Your focus is to be on the Kingdom of God,not the things of the world(Matthew 6:28-34). The Bible warns,“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap” (Luke 21:34). “That day” is speaking of end-time events and return of the Lord.
DEALING WITH ANXIETY AND WORRY:
Ask God for forgiveness. Anxiety and worry reflect unbelief that God is able to handle the situations in your life. Ask forgiveness for unbelief.
Address why you are anxious and worried. Like David, question yourself: “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?” Then, whatever the reason for your concern, tell yourself by faith: “Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you …” (Psalm 42:5-6)
Boldly declare that the Lord will help in any situation causing worry. He is your source of strength (Philippians 4:13). “So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my helper, I will not be seized with alarm-I will not fear or dread or be terrified. What can man do to me?” (Heb. 13:6, TAB).
Cast your cares on God. The Bible says to cast your cares on the Lord (Psalm 55:22). The word “cast” implies a continuous action. You may cast your cares on God, yet anxious thoughts return. When they do, cast again!
Pray and praise God instead of thinking anxious thoughts. The Word says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). Turn every anxious thought into a prayer, then praise God for the answer.
Do not worry. This is a command, not an option (Luke 12:22-23). Worry is focused on the future, and Jesus said not to think about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34). God designed the world to run on a 24 hour schedule. Don’t violate this principle by worrying about the future.
Replace worry with the Word. The Word of God is effective in dealing with worry and anxiety. Following are some excerpts to get you started. In addition, go through your Bible and mark all of the promises of God and His faithfulness. Review these when you are tempted to worry.
WHAT GOD’S WORD SAYS ABOUT ANXIETY AND WORRY:
Do not fret–it leads only to evil. (Psalm 37:8)
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you … (Psalm 42:5-6)
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. (Psalm 55:22)
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. (Psalm 94:19)
An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up. (Proverbs 12:25)
The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
(Proverbs 28:1)
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:28-34)
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food and the body more than clothes. (Luke 12:22-23)

Prayer
Father, thank You for helping us to build our intimate needs of significance, self-worth and security on you. Lord Jesus, You are the mighty counselor, the everlasting Father, the king of Kings and the lord of Lords, you have commanded us to be your ambassador and to represent you correctly. Lord, we pray that you will equip us through the subseries to be all that you have called us to be and to do in Jesus name. Give us a teachable heart that learns, apply to ourselves first and to others Lord, God. We pray that as a result of our effectiveness, more souls will be added to the kingdom, the backslidden will be restored to the glory of Your name.
As we are willing, we receive the grace to be faithful to the kingdom of God as it concerns the application of our time, talent and treasure Lord God. May You find us faithful to the very end in Jesus name. We come against the spirit of anger, worry and anxiety in us and around us and declare them to bow to the Lordship of Jesus Christ today and always in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, as we counsel people from all works of life, grant us wisdom that comes from You and You only in the name of Jesus Christ.
We pray for the thousands of visitors to our sites day in and day out, week in and week out, month in and month out, year in and year out that they will encounter You Lord Jesus in a brand new way that will lead to lasting transformations Lord God.
Thank You for we know you will do exceedingly, abundantly and above all that we can even ask or think according to your sovereign will for these times and seasons in Jesus name, amen
