Acts 8:1-8
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
8 And Saul was [not only] consenting to [Stephen’s] death [he was [a]pleased and [b]entirely approving]. On that day a great and severe persecution broke out against the church which was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles (special messengers).
2 [A party of] devout men [c]with others helped to carry out and bury Stephen and made great lamentation over him.
3 But Saul shamefully treated and laid waste the church continuously [with cruelty and violence]; and entering house after house, he dragged out men and women and committed them to prison.
4 Now those who were scattered abroad went about [through the land from place to place] preaching the glad tidings, the Word [[d]the doctrine concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God].
5 Philip [the deacon, not the apostle] went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Christ (the Messiah) to them [the people];
6 And great crowds of people with one accord listened to and heeded what was said by Philip, as they heard him and watched the miracles and wonders which he kept performing [from time to time].
7 For foul spirits came out of many who were possessed by them, screaming and shouting with a loud voice, and many who were suffering from palsy or were crippled were restored to health.
8 And there was great rejoicing in that city
Hello Friends, recall our theme for this year’s annual prayer and fasting as praying the Lord of Harvest to thrust out Labourers into the harvest. The question to ask is, “How do you thrust out labourers who have no clue as to the specifics of the assignment God has purposes for them in this time and pursue it?”
Most Christians around the world in our pews and pulpit know so much about Jesus but have no relationship with Jesus. They are in relationship with their pastor and GO. To test this, ask this simple question. When was the last word Jesus spoke to you yesterday, a week ago, 1 year ago? What did He say? What was your response? Do you have conviction He heard you. Apart from the register in the church, does Jesus know you? Do you know Jesus? I am talking about individualized conversation with Jesus, not ABOUT Jesus? If the answer is no, you are missing out a lot! You must of necessity do something about it today. Jesus said my sheep know my VOICE- John 10:27

In Acts 6:1-15, we read of 7 deacons that were selected, through prayer to serve tables. One of those was evangelist Philip. At this time, he never knew he was an evangelist until persecution arose and Philip headed for Samaria in Acts 8 It was in Samaria Philip began to serve in his proper assignment. If he had continued to serve tables as Deacon, how could Samaria have heard of the Gospel and believed? How could the Ethiopian Eunuch have understood Isaiah and gotten baptized? Thank God for the Persecution that thrust him out of the comfort zone in Jerusalem. Out of comfort zone, Philip began to manifest purpose.
