Short Story

In the small village of Bethlehem, there lived a young man named Joseph. He was a devout follower of Jesus, and he spent every waking moment advancing the kingdom of God. He would often go to the local synagogue to pray and study the scriptures, and he was known throughout the village for his kindness and compassion.

One day, as Joseph was walking through the village, he came across a group of people who were struggling to build a new well. They had been working on it for days, but they had made little progress. Joseph saw their struggle and knew that he had to help. He went to the local carpenter and asked if he could use some of his tools to help the villagers. The carpenter agreed, and Joseph set to work.

With his strong arms and determined spirit, Joseph was able to help the villagers finish the well in just a few hours. The villagers were amazed at how quickly the work had been done, and they thanked Joseph for his help.

As Joseph continued to advance the kingdom of God in the village, he noticed that the villagers were starting to change. They were becoming kinder, more compassionate, and more understanding of one another. The village was becoming a place of peace and love, and Joseph knew that it was all because of the power of God.

Years went by, and Joseph continued to serve the village with his whole heart. He became a leader in the community, and his love for God and for the people around him inspired countless others to do the same. The kingdom of God had grown and flourished in Bethlehem, and it was all because of the dedication and perseverance of Joseph.

As he grew old and passed on to eternal life, the villagers remembered Joseph as a man of great faith and kindness. They knew that his legacy would live on, and that the kingdom of God would continue to advance in their hearts and in the world around them.

And so, the story of Joseph serves as a reminder to us all of the importance of advancing the kingdom of God daily. It is a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness and compassion can have a profound impact on the world around us, and that the power of God is always at work in our lives.

End

Luke 10:2

He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

In our Spiritual D.N.A: the stands for Divine truth and we engage with the Scriptures. The stands for Nurturing relationships and we ask each other questions.

The stands for Advancing the mission. The Apostles were ones sent by God. We join in God’s mission by praying for laborers for the harvest. In Luke 10:2 Jesus said, ”The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.” It is a strange command but Jesus said we should pray this way.

A tool to remember to pray is to set your cell phone alarm to 2 minutes after 10 am or pm where 10:02 reminds us of the Luke 10:2 passage and the need to pray. Do not under-estimate this simple prayer as God will begin to do show you amazing things you can do as you pray for more laborers.

For Reflection:

  • When have you ever felt you are on a mission?
  • Where do you see needs where God might be sending you to help?

Make Life Count:

  • Set the alarm on your phone to 10:02 and take 1 minute each day at that time to pray for workers to be sent to the harvest. Try this and see what happens.
