Homily at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church
Maitama, Abuja
A Church Without Walls, Borders, or Denominations
Today, I had the privilege of worshipping with our brothers and sisters at
The Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja.
Last Sunday, I worshipped at Dunamis International Gospel Centre.
This is intentional.
At God’s Eagle Ministries, we believe there will be
no denominations in heaven. Heaven will not be divided into
Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal, Methodist, Presbyterian, or any other
earthly label. There will only be men and women who have received Jesus Christ
as Lord and Saviour, trusted Him, and sought to obey His commandments.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart… and you shall love
your neighbour as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37–40
That is why God’s Eagle Ministries is a Church without walls, borders,
or denominations.
Our calling is not merely to build our own gatherings, but to
pray for Christ’s Church, encourage believers everywhere,
and strengthen unity among all who belong to Him.

A Life-Defining Assignment
“Pray for My Church. Pray for My Leaders.”
In March 2006, during a 40-day encounter with the Lord
that culminated on 25 April 2006, the Lord gave me a simple
but life-defining assignment:
“Pray for My Church.
Pray for My leaders.”
Since then, every year from 17 March to 25 April, we dedicate
ourselves to interceding for the Church and for leaders across the
seven realms of society. It has become a sacred season of
watching, praying, listening, and standing in the gap before God.
That assignment has also shaped how we relate to the Body of Christ.
We cannot genuinely intercede for people while remaining distant from them.
We cannot faithfully pray for churches we refuse to engage with, nor can we
effectively pray for leaders we never seek to understand.
That is why, at God’s Eagle Ministries, we intentionally
worship and fellowship with different Christian communities. We go to
encourage, to learn, to observe, and above all, to pray.
We pray and watch.
We watch and pray.
As we watch, we discern how to pray more effectively. As we pray, God opens
our eyes to see His Church through His heart rather than through denominational
lenses. We rejoice with those who rejoice, we weep with those who weep, and
we stand together as one Body under one Lord.
Reflections from Today’s Homily
Why Does God Allow Evil?
The priest addressed one of humanity’s oldest and most difficult questions:
If God is good, why does evil exist?
He reminded us that when God created the world,
everything was good (Genesis 1). Evil was never part of
God’s original design.
Instead, evil entered through the misuse of free will.
God created angels and human beings with the freedom to love Him or reject
Him. Lucifer rebelled, and Adam and Eve exercised their freedom in
disobedience. From that moment, sin, suffering, death, and corruption
entered creation.
Two Forms of Evil
One
Moral Evil
Moral evil is produced by sinful human choices:
Hatred, corruption, violence, dishonesty, gossip, injustice and pride.
Two
Natural Evil
Natural evil includes:
Diseases, natural disasters, suffering, death and the decay of creation.
Romans 8 reminds us that creation itself is groaning, waiting for the
glorious redemption that Christ will bring.
The Christian Response
Scripture does not only ask why evil exists. It also asks how believers
should respond while living in a fallen world.
1. Stay Spiritually Awake
Jesus said that while men slept, the enemy sowed weeds among the wheat.
Spiritual sleep gives the enemy opportunity.
“Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about
like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
1 Peter 5:8
2. Use Your Free Will Well
Every day God places choices before us. We can choose forgiveness or
revenge, truth or deception, humility or pride, and generosity or selfishness.
Love requires freedom, and heaven honours our choices while holding us
accountable for them.
3. Produce the Fruit of the Spirit
A genuine Christian is recognised less by titles than by character.
If the Holy Spirit truly lives within us, His fruit should become visible.

4. Prayer Is the Answer to Prayerlessness
“The solution to prayerlessness is prayerfulness.”
Romans 8:26–27 reminds us that the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses
and makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
When we struggle to pray, we should not stop praying. Begin with five
minutes, then ten, then fifteen. The Holy Spirit strengthens those who
persevere.
5. Be Intentional About Doing Good
Goodness rarely happens accidentally. We must deliberately choose righteousness.
Speak against evil.
Refuse corruption.
Serve faithfully.
Lead with integrity.
Make your home, workplace, community and nation better because Christ lives in you.
A Thought That Resonated
One illustration from the priest was especially relevant. When those in
positions of authority misuse their office, many people suffer.
But when leadership is exercised with humility, justice and compassion,
entire communities flourish.
Whether in government, business, ministry or the family, leadership is a
stewardship entrusted to us by God.
Hope Beyond Present Suffering
Creation groans.
Believers groan.
The Holy Spirit intercedes.
And one day Christ will make all things new.
No more sorrow
No more crying
No more pain
Justice will finally prevail, and God’s original purpose for creation
will be fully restored.
Our Prayer
Father, Make Us Faithful
Help us to choose good over evil.
Strengthen us by Your Holy Spirit.
Restore our prayer lives.
Help us to bear the fruit of Christ wherever You have placed us.
May we become peacemakers, bridge builders and faithful witnesses across
every denomination and tradition that confesses Jesus Christ as Lord.
Teach us to love Your whole Church, pray for Your servants everywhere,
and labour for the unity for which Jesus Himself prayed.
As we continue the assignment You gave us in 2006, help us to remain
faithful—to pray and watch, and to watch and pray—until
Your Church is presented before You in glory.
May Your Kingdom come, and may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
