There are seasons when God calls us to pause, reflect, and return to the foundations of our faith—not for information but for awakening. Ephesians 1 is one of those foundations. This chapter is not ordinary. It is a vault, a treasury, a mirror revealing who we truly are in Christ.

As I journeyed through Ephesians 1, the Holy Spirit began opening the chapter like layers of treasure. Every verse carried weight. Every line carried identity. Every phrase carried destiny.

Today, I share with you 12 life-transforming lessons from Ephesians 1 — filled with truth, testimony, revelation, and prophetic instruction — to awaken the treasure God hid inside you before time began.

This is not just a teaching. It is a commissioning. It is a call back to identity, purpose, authority, and national responsibility.

LESSON 1 OF 12 — YOU WERE KNOWN BEFORE EARTH EXISTED

Paul begins:

“Long before He laid down earth’s foundations, He had us in mind…”
— Ephesians 1:4 (MSG)

God Himself told Jeremiah:

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”
— Jeremiah 1:5

Before the first sunrise… before mountains stood… before the oceans existed… God already knew you.

You were not a reaction. You were His intention. In God’s mind, you are older than the earth.

Like the sculptor who says, “The statue was always inside the stone, I just revealed it,” God saw you before He formed you.

Action:

Say daily: “I existed in God before I existed on earth.”

LESSON 2 OF 12 — YOU WERE CHOSEN, NOT TOLERATED

Paul says:

“He decided to adopt us… what pleasure He took in planning this!”
— Ephesians 1:5

Jesus confirms:

“You did not choose Me, but I chose you.”
— John 15:16

Your life is not an accident. God did not get stuck with you. You are not an inconvenience; you are a delight.

A father once walked through an adoption center and chose a child everyone else had passed over. When asked why, he said, “Because my heart recognized her.” That is how God feels about you.

Action:

Declare: “I am chosen by God. I am not tolerated, I am desired.”

LESSON 3 OF 12 — YOU ARE ABUNDANTLY FREE

Paul writes:

“We are a free people—not barely free, but abundantly free!”
— Ephesians 1:7

Jesus adds:

“If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.”
— John 8:36

True freedom is not the absence of chains; it is the presence of Christ’s finished work.

I once heard of a man released from prison after decades behind bars. Yet every morning, he sat outside the old prison gate because, although his body was free, his mind was still chained. Many believers live like that—legally free, mentally bound.

Action:

Identify one lie, one fear, or one shame that keeps you bound. Replace it with a specific Scripture from God’s Word. Speak that truth over yourself daily.

LESSON 4 OF 12 — GOD PROVIDED EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU NEEDED ANYTHING

Paul says:

“He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need…”
— Ephesians 1:8

Jesus confirms:

“Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.”
— Matthew 6:8

Before you stepped into your calling, God prepared the resources. Before the assignment was given, heaven stocked the warehouse.

Like a father who sets up a trust fund long before his child understands its value, God prepared your provision before you knew your purpose.

Action:

Shift your prayer life. Instead of begging in fear, begin to thank God in faith: “Father, thank You that in Christ, You have already provided everything I need for life and godliness.” Then ask Him how to use what is already in your hand.

LESSON 5 OF 12 — PURPOSE IS TREASURE; YOU MUST DIG FOR IT

Paul reveals:

“He let us in on the plans He took such delight in making.”
— Ephesians 1:9

Jesus teaches:

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field…”
— Matthew 13:44

Treasure is never left on the surface. Not gold. Not diamonds. Not destiny.

If you want what heaven hid inside you, you must dig. You must pray, fast, ask, seek, knock. Purpose answers to pursuit. Casual seekers rarely find eternal treasures.

Action:

Set aside at least 20 minutes each day for quiet, listening prayer. Ask: “Lord, what are You showing me about my assignment?” Write down every impression, Scripture, or idea. Purpose unfolds with documentation.

LESSON 6 OF 12 — YOUR TRUE IDENTITY IS FOUND ONLY IN CHRIST

Paul says:

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.”
— Ephesians 1:11

Jesus says:

“Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
— John 8:12

The world cannot tell you who you are. Your past cannot tell you who you are. Your failures cannot tell you who you are. Only Christ can.

Looking for identity outside of Christ is like trying to see your reflection in a cracked and dirty mirror. Everything appears distorted. But in Christ, you see yourself clearly as God sees you.

Action:

• Write down the negative labels and false identities you have carried (e.g., “failure,” “rejected,” “not enough”).
• Renounce them before God.
• Replace each one with a truth from Scripture (e.g., “chosen,” “beloved,” “accepted in the Beloved,” “more than a conqueror”).

LESSON 7 OF 12 — YOU WERE DESIGNED FOR GLORIOUS LIVING (MY TESTIMONY)

Paul writes:

“He had designs on us for glorious living…”
— Ephesians 1:12

Jesus declares:

“I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”
— John 10:10

Let me share a personal testimony.

Seven days before my 53rd birthday, I began a 7-day fast. My cry was simple and sincere: “Lord, show me clearly the specific calling and assignment You have for my life.”

On the morning of my birthday, at exactly 5:00 a.m., the Lord woke me with a clear word in my spirit:
“You are My Ugochukwu… You are My Eagle.”

In that moment, everything shifted. Identity landed. From that day forward, our ministry carried a new name and a new mandate:
God’s Eagle Ministries (GEMs).

When God names you, He frames you. Identity births movement. Identity gives wings to destiny. Identity makes you soar where you once struggled to walk.

Action:

Ask God with sincerity and faith: “Father, who am I in Your eyes? How do You see me?” Write down what He reveals over time and live from that identity, not from past labels.

LESSON 8 OF 12 — YOU ARE SIGNED, SEALED, AND EMPOWERED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

Paul says:

“You were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit… signed, sealed, and delivered.”
— Ephesians 1:13 (paraphrased)

Jesus promises:

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper… the Spirit of Truth, who will be with you.”
— John 14:16–17

In ancient times, a king’s seal on a document meant it carried the king’s authority and protection. Anyone who tampered with it answered to the king himself.

The Holy Spirit is heaven’s seal upon you. You are not ordinary. You are marked. You are authorized. You are backed by heaven’s government.

Action:

Declare daily: “I am sealed, protected, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. My life and destiny are not up for demonic negotiation.”

LESSON 9 OF 12 — WE MUST PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER

Paul says:

“Every time I prayed, I’d think of you and give thanks.”
— Ephesians 1:15–16

Jesus commands:

“Love one another as I have loved you.”
— John 13:34

We are not designed to walk alone. The Christian life is a body, not a solo performance. Your prayer may be the strength someone else needs. Your thanksgiving may be the honor someone’s heart is starving for.

Like a runner in a marathon who wants to quit, but hears their name being shouted from the sidelines, encouragement and intercession infuse fresh strength.

Action:

• Choose three people to pray for daily this week.
• Send a message of encouragement to at least one person each day.

LESSON 10 OF 12 — GOD WANTS YOU TO KNOW HIS SPECIFIC WILL

Paul writes:

“…that you may know and see clearly exactly what He is calling you to do…”
— Ephesians 1:17–18 (paraphrased MSG)

Jesus says:

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
— John 10:27

God does not want you confused. He does not want you guessing. He wants you to know His will with clarity, precision, and confidence.

Just as a person cleaning their glasses suddenly sees the map clearly, God wants to clean our spiritual lenses so we can see the path He has laid out.

Action:

Pray daily: “Lord, show me exactly what You want me to do today, and in this season. Align my schedule, my relationships, and my steps with Your will.”

LESSON 11 OF 12 — YOU HAVE ENDLESS ENERGY AND BOUNDLESS STRENGTH

Paul declares:

“Oh, the utter extravagance of His work in us who trust Him—endless energy, boundless strength!”
— Ephesians 1:19 (MSG)

Jesus says:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”
— Matthew 28:18

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work within you. You are not powerless. You are not helpless. You are not fighting for victory;
you are fighting from victory.

You are connected to a divine power source. Like a lamp plugged into the socket, you do not generate your own light—you receive and release it.

Action:

Identify one area of your life where you have felt defeated. Find a promise from Scripture that speaks to that area. Begin to speak that promise out loud every day, believing that resurrection power is at work in you.

LESSON 12 OF 12 — THE CHURCH IS GOD’S NATION-SHAPING BODY (AND A PROPHETIC MESSAGE TO NIGERIA)

Paul concludes:

“The church is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church.”
— Ephesians 1:23 (MSG)

God says:

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
— 2 Chronicles 7:14

Allow me to share a very personal and prophetic journey.

I was in the United Kingdom until 2006 when the Lord appeared to me in a dream and instructed me to return to Nigeria. I hesitated. I wrestled. Eventually, I obeyed and returned.

At the beginning of each year from 2007, I would enter into 7 days of fasting and prayer, asking the Lord a single question:
“Lord, why did You bring me back to Nigeria?”

For a season, heaven was silent.

Then in 2009, during one of those 7-day fasts, the Lord finally spoke:

“I want you to write a book on revival. Tell the Church in Nigeria to repent. If they do not, I will release the northern army.”

At the beginning of 2010, that book was written—with no name on it. It was anonymous. The message was what mattered, not the messenger.

Then came the assignment: distribute this book across the nation. By the help of God, over the course of 12 days, we travelled more than 7,000 km, driving from one state to another—across all 37 states (36 states plus the FCT), and in each state at least 7 churches received 12 copies of the book, calling the Church to repentance.

That national assignment was followed years later by another one. In 2021, the Lord spoke again:

“Reach the youth leaders, and avoid the organized church.”

In 21 days, by God’s grace, that assignment was completed.

Out of these experiences, the Lord made something crystal clear to me—not only for Nigeria, but for the nations of the earth:

THE ANSWER TO THE CRISIS IN NIGERIA DOES NOT REST IN ASO ROCK, ABUJA; THE WHITE HOUSE IN WASHINGTON; OR BUCKINGHAM PALACE IN LONDON.
THE ANSWER RESTS SQUARELY WITH THE CHURCH.

If God’s people—His Church—will humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways, then He will hear, He will forgive, and He will heal the land.

This message is not only to the Nigerian Church. It is a prophetic wake-up call to the Church worldwide. We have given too much responsibility to our governments, too much hope to political systems, and too little to the power of a praying, repentant, obedient Church.

We must return to our knees.
We must return to our first love.
We must once again believe that God can heal nations through a surrendered Church.

Action:

• Embrace your role as part of Christ’s Body—not a spectator, but a participant.
• Begin to pray regularly for your nation, not in anger or despair, but in faith and repentance.
• Ask God where He is calling you to stand in the gap—in your family, your community, your city, your nation.

REFLECTION

Take time with the Holy Spirit and reflect on these questions:

• What treasure has God hidden in me that I must now intentionally dig out?
• What identity has God spoken over me that I have not yet fully embraced?
• What limitation or lie do I need to break agreement with?
• What specific assignment is God highlighting in this season?
• Who needs my intercession, encouragement, or support right now?
• What mountain of influence (faith, family, education, government, economy, media/arts, science/technology) am I called to impact?
• How is God calling me to stand in the gap for my nation?

DECLARATIONS

Speak these boldly over your life:

I am chosen before time.
I am known, loved, and planned by God.
I am sealed and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
I am God’s Eagle — I rise, I soar.
My identity is anchored in Christ, not in my past.
Everything I need for my assignment has already been provided in Christ.
I walk in resurrection power, not in defeat.
I am an instrument of revival and transformation.
I am an ambassador of God’s Kingdom in my nation.
I will finish my God-given assignment with excellence and joy.
In Jesus’ mighty name—Amen.

PRAYER

Father,
Thank You for revealing the eternal treasures You hid in us before the foundations of the world. Thank You for choosing us, loving us, adopting us, sealing us, and calling us into Your glorious purpose.

Lord, open our eyes to see exactly what You have called each of us to do. Strip away false identities and fill us with the truth of who we are in Christ. Awaken holy hunger in us to seek You, to dig deep, and to discover the treasures You have placed within.

Empower us by Your Spirit with endless energy and boundless strength. Make us Your Eagles—rising above the storms, seeing from heaven’s perspective, and carrying Your message to the earth.

We lift up Nigeria and the nations before You. Forgive us where we have trusted more in politics than in prayer, more in systems than in Your Spirit. Bring us, Your Church, to true repentance. Heal our land as we humble ourselves, pray, seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways.

Lord, let revival begin in us and flow through us. Use us to seed the nations with Your Word and see lives transformed by Your timeless truths. Help us to finish the assignments You have given us with faithfulness, courage, and joy.
