Let’s dive in into the times of prayer or cycles of prayer. This is brought to you on the need to maintain an unbroken and continuous fellowship and focus on God. The saints of old understood the importance of scheduling prayer into 7 time slots and obeyed those slots like ritual. Both the Jews and the new testament believers followed this time chain. When something is as important as prayer, which the devil tries to distract us and get us focused on the mondaine things of life, we just schedule it into our daily routine and forget about it. It just runs like clockwork. You can’t take the scriptures and pray through them like the Psalms which is inherently prophetic and not keep focus on God for that moment. In focusing on God, He downloads His seconds to second, minutes to minute, hours to hour, days to day, weeks to week, months to month and years to year plans into our hearts.

Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself also in the LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Since it is human nature to battle against self-worship, we are tempted to focus on the latter half of this verse which seems to promise that God will give us whatever our little hearts desire. That is not what that scripture means. What that scripture means is that when we focus on God, we begin to desire the things or the plans that He has for us. We literally pickup up is mind like a sponge and we own them as our our desires.
In the presence of God, our selfish desires begins to die out and His selfless desires for our lives comes alive and take the place of the selfish desires. That is, if we spend sufficient time keeping our focus on Him.The length of time to keep focus on Him vary from persons to person, on the level of distractions in our soul. The level to which we are willing to stir up our spirit and soul in worship time and praise and practicing His presence in our lives.
Time and again when I go into the secret place with the Lord, I go with certain desires, some shopping list I take to Him but as I stay in His presence and discern His heart, my prayer list take second place and die out in no time because in His light, there is light. We see what we need to be and to do more clearly than we should have if we spend more time in His presence. If we don’t ease Him out of our lives through our busy schedule which tend to ease Him out of our lives, then we will get the download of His desires for our lives for that time – this is what we call praying without ceasing.
