A Plea for Justice
A Psalm of Asaph.
82 God stands in the congregation of [a]
the mighty; He judges among the [b]
gods. 2How long will you judge unjustly,
And show partiality to the wicked? Selah
3 [c] Defend the poor and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4Deliver the poor and needy;
Free them from the hand of the wicked.
5They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness;All the foundations of the earth are [d] unstable. 6 I said, “You are [e]
gods, And all of you are children of the Most High. 7But you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the princes.”
8Arise, O God, judge the earth;
For You shall inherit all nations.

Psalm 72:14
The Message
9-14 Foes will fall on their knees before God, his enemies lick the dust.
Kings remote and legendary will pay homage, kings rich and resplendent will turn over their wealth.
All kings will fall down and worship,
and godless nations sign up to serve him,
Because he rescues the poor at the first sign of need, the destitute who have run out of luck.
He opens a place in his heart for the down-and-out, he restores the wretched of the earth.
He frees them from tyranny and torture— when they bleed, he bleeds; when they die, he dies.

Psalm 82
The Message
82 God calls the judges into his courtroom, he puts all the judges in the dock. 2-4 “Enough! You’ve corrupted justice long enough, you’ve let the wicked get away with murder.
You’re here to defend the defenseless,
to make sure that underdogs get a fair break; Your job is to stand up for the powerless, and prosecute all those who exploit them.” 5 Ignorant judges! Head-in-the-sand judges! They haven’t a clue to what’s going on.
And now everything’s falling apart,
the world’s coming unglued.
6-7 “I appointed you judges, each one of you, deputies of the High God,
But you’ve betrayed your commission
and now you’re stripped of your rank, busted.” 😯 God, give them what they’ve got coming! You’ve got the whole world in your hands!

6am Lord, let the wicked fall into the pit they have dug and let predatory systems collapse under their own devices.

9am Redeem the souls of the poor, the vulnerable, and the voiceless from deceit and violence.

12pm Every machinery of injustice feeding on innocent blood, be judged by the righteous God.

3pm Let traffickers, violent conspirators, and institutional oppressors lose their networks, funding, and cover.

6pm I decree that the blood of the innocent shall no longer be cheap in our land.

9pm Father, raise righteous judges, investigators, advocates, and reformers who will not bow to pressure.

12am Let hidden evidence surface and let truth break through every engineered falsehood.

3am O God of justice, arise for the afflicted and display Your power in the courts and councils
of nations.

You can combine all of these prayers at once—for example at 12 midnight, morning prayers, 12 noon, and 6 pm prayers. You are not restricted to these time frames.

We encourage breaking of fast with communion, but it is not mandatory.
