Day 22 of 40 Day Discipleship Walk with Jesus Christ: Make the transition

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

A Short Story

As I look back on my spiritual journey, I am reminded of the countless transitions I have made throughout the years. Transitions that have shaped me into the person I am today, and have allowed me to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I remember the day I first accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, it was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I finally felt a sense of purpose and belonging, and my heart was filled with joy and peace. But as time went on, I began to realize that my faith was more than just a one-time decision. It was a daily choice to trust in Him, to follow His leading, and to allow His grace to transform me from the inside out.

One of the most significant transitions I made was when I left my comfortable life behind and moved to a new city to attend Bible college. It was a scary and uncertain time, but I knew that it was what God was calling me to do. As I settled into my new life, I began to learn and grow in ways I never thought possible. I made new friends, learned new skills, and was challenged to think critically about my faith. It was a time of great growth and transformation, and it set the stage for the next chapter of my life.

Another transition that had a profound impact on my life was when I decided to step out of my comfort zone and start serving others. I began volunteering at my local church, and soon found myself leading a small group and participating in outreach programs. It was a humbling experience, but one that taught me the value of putting others first and living a life of service. As I served others, I experienced a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment, and my faith grew stronger as a result.

But perhaps the most significant transition I have made was when I learned to embrace the unknown and trust in God’s sovereignty. It was a lesson that I had to learn the hard way, through trials and struggles that left me feeling lost and uncertain. But as I looked back on my life, I realized that God had been preparing me for this moment all along. He had been guiding me, shaping me, and molding me into the person I am today. And as I embraced the unknown and trusted in His sovereignty, I experienced a sense of peace and freedom that I had never known before.

Looking back on my spiritual journey, I am reminded of the countless transitions I have made. Transitions that have shaped me into the person I am today, and have allowed me to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. And as I look to the future, I know that there will be many more transitions to come. But I am confident that as I trust in God and embrace the unknown, He will continue to guide me, shape me, and mold me into the person He desires me to be.

END

Just as the DNA carries the genetic code in our bodies so that cells grow and reproduce, so we can think of steps which help give a blueprint for growth in discipleship. In the DNA of discipleship:

The stands for Divine truth from reading the Scriptures. We can daily practice 7 minutes with God, as a way to begin.

The stands for Nurturing relationships. In community we nurture through asking questions and listening to each other.

  • How have you perceived the presence of God this week?
  • How have you responded?
  • What risks have you taken by faith?
  • What are you learning?
  • How can we help?

Meet with others to discuss these questions and the daily Scripture readings then help each other take action. Make notes of what stands out to you so you can use it in your discussion. The stands for Advancing the mission which we will look at later.

For Reflection:

  • What is the role of DNA in our bodies?
  • What are spiritual patterns that have helped you grow?

Make Life Count:

  • Write down the names of 2 or 3 people you could discuss these questions with. Pray about inviting one of them for a coffee. (If you are in a small group, send them an email to say you are praying for them And pray for them!)

Shalom!
