John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

You don’t have to eat delicious food all the time for it to nourish you. Sometimes Scripture reading can be dry. This does not mean it is not nourishing. We feel we should have some deep insights from the Scriptures to share or we should have experienced some dramatic manifestations of God’s presence. We get disappointed when that doesn’t always happen.

Sometimes normal life is quietly growing without a great fanfare. It is putting one foot ahead of the other on a long journey. It is saying ‘no’ to something harmful. Or it is showing up instead of giving up. It is OK if we have no dramatic insights or stories to tell but we have become nurtured from continuing in the Scriptures. We have sought to be faithfully present. This too is miraculous.

For Reflection:

  • When do the Scriptures seem most delicious to you?
  • How does Jesus give ‘life to the full’?

Make Life Count:

  • Write down one thing you want stopped that ‘steal, kills or destroys’ in your life/ family/relationships/ job. Ask Jesus to bring His full life into what you have listed.

Storytime

In the small town of Willowdale, nestled in the rolling hills of the countryside, a young woman named Sarah had always felt a sense of emptiness in her life. She had a good job, a nice home, and a supportive family, but something was missing. She felt like she was just going through the motions of life, never truly living.

One day, as she was walking down the main street of the town, she saw a flyer advertising a local art class. On a whim, she decided to sign up. The class was led by a kind-hearted woman named Rachel, who had a passion for art and a gift for teaching.

Over the next few weeks, Sarah found herself looking forward to the class more and more. She discovered a hidden talent for painting, and the act of creating something beautiful brought her a sense of joy and fulfillment that she had never experienced before.

But one day, as she was leaving the class, she was approached by a man named John. He was tall and lean, with piercing blue eyes and a warm smile. He introduced himself as a traveling artist, and he told Sarah that he had been watching her from afar. He was impressed by her talent and her dedication to her craft, and he wanted to offer her a special opportunity.

He explained that he was on a mission to spread a message of hope and love to the world, and he believed that Sarah had the potential to be a part of it. He told her that he had been watching her for weeks, and he had seen the way that her art brought joy to those around her. He believed that she had the power to bring light into the lives of others, and he wanted to help her use that power to make a difference in the world.

At first, Sarah was skeptical. She had never been one for grand gestures or big dreams, and she didn’t know if she was cut out for something so lofty. But as she looked into John’s eyes, she saw something there that gave her hope. She saw a sense of purpose and a desire to make the world a better place, and she knew that she wanted to be a part of it.

Over the next few weeks, Sarah worked closely with John, learning about his message of hope and love, and how she could use her art to spread it to others. She discovered that she had a talent for painting images that brought people together, and she found joy in using her art to bring people closer to each other and to God.

As the weeks passed, Sarah found that her life was filled with a new sense of purpose and meaning. She was no longer just going through the motions of life, but she was living each day with a sense of intention and direction. She was using her talents to make a difference in the world, and she was finding joy and fulfillment in the process.

And as she looked into John’s eyes, she saw a sense of pride and love, and she knew that she had found her true calling in life. She was no longer just a young woman from Willowdale, but a vessel for hope and love, and she was ready to share that with the world.
