Brethren,

Today we had the privilege of worshipping at Dunamis International Gospel Centre. Below are my notes from the message. I trust they will encourage you to deepen your walk with God and strengthen your prayer life.

*1. Prayer is Necessary to Sustain Our Relationship with the Father*

Prayer is the lubricant of our relationship with God. Just as breathing sustains physical life, prayer sustains our fellowship with our heavenly Father.

Prayerlessness is evidence of a breakdown in relationship. If we desire intimacy with God, prayer must become as continuous and as natural as breathing.

*2. Prayer is Necessary to Express Our Thoughts, Feelings and Desires to God*

Prayer is the avenue through which we commune with God, expressing our hearts, our emotions, our burdens and our desires.

Our earthly relationships flourish through communication, and our relationship with God is no different. Prayer should be a continuous conversation with our Father.

*3. Prayer is Necessary for Reconciliation with God*

Whenever we fail or fall into sin, prayer becomes the pathway back into fellowship with God.

Scriptures:

– Matthew 6:12
– Psalm 25:18
– Daniel 9:19
– 1 John 1:9

We must never allow sin, pride, bitterness or looking down on others to create distance between us and God. The soul that sins loses fellowship with the Father until repentance restores that communion.

This is not referring to those who deliberately continue in sin, but to believers who sincerely return to God in repentance.

*4. Prayer is Necessary to Access the Mind, Will, Secrets and Mysteries of God*

Scriptures:

– Jeremiah 33:3
– Daniel 2:19

God reveals His purposes, His plans and His hidden mysteries in the place of prayer.

This speaks of understanding God’s long-term purposes and His overall direction for our lives.

*5. Prayer is Necessary to Receive Daily Direction and Divine Instruction*

Scriptures:

– Jeremiah 6:16
– 1 Samuel 30:8

While the previous point relates to God’s general purpose, this concerns His specific instructions for particular situations and daily decisions.

Many frustrations in life arise because people act on assumptions instead of divine direction.

In the place of prayer, we receive God’s voice concerning each issue and each season.

We ask, and we receive.

*6. Prayer is Necessary to Present Our Requests and Petitions Before God*

Scriptures:

– Philippians 4:6–7
– Matthew 7:7–8

Prayer is God’s appointed means for presenting our needs, burdens and petitions before Him. He invites us to ask, seek and knock.

*7. Prayer is Necessary to Enforce God’s Promises and Our Covenant Privileges*

Scriptures:

– John 15:7
– Hosea 14:2
– Isaiah 43:26
– Joshua 21:45

God has given us promises and covenant rights, but they are enforced in the place of prayer.

Scripture records that not one of God’s promises has ever failed. His Word stands forever.

*8. Prayer is Necessary to Receive Divine Help in Times of Need*

Scriptures:

– Psalm 121:1–2
– Hebrews 4:16
– 2 Chronicles 20:12

Prayer gives us access to God’s help during seasons of urgency, helplessness, battles and overwhelming need.

One statement from Pastor Paul was especially profound:

«”God must recognise your voice in times of peace so that He will respond in times of war.”»

He also reminded us:

«”God is not a God to be used; He is a God to be worshipped.”»

*9. Prayer is Necessary to Intercept and Interrupt Satanic Plans*

Scriptures:

– Matthew 6:13
– Ephesians 6:10–18

Because the devil never stops planning, believers must never stop praying.

We must never give the devil an award by becoming weary in prayer.

Even though Satan continues to oppose God’s purposes, we must continue resisting him.

If he comes a hundred times, defeat him a hundred times through prayer.

*10. Prayer is Necessary to Maintain Spiritual Alertness*

Scriptures:

– Ephesians 6:18
– Matthew 26:41
– Luke 21:36

Prayer keeps us spiritually awake, alert and watchful.

Prayerlessness is spiritual slumber.

Prayerlessness is spiritual carelessness, and spiritual carelessness often leads to becoming a casualty in spiritual warfare.

Praying in the Spirit develops spiritual sensitivity and protects us from becoming victims of the enemy’s attacks.

As far as your destiny is concerned, take personal responsibility.

Even the most spiritual people can miss their way if they neglect prayer.

For the security of your destiny, remain prayerful.

One memorable statement was:

«”Carnality equals calamity. Spirituality equals authority.”»

You cannot lack spiritual authority if you remain spiritually sensitive and committed to prayer.

Practical Instructions

– Never allow your prayer life to be sacrificed on the altar of excessive busyness and endless activity.
– Avoid the plague of prayerlessness that often accompanies discouragement and despair.
– Never become too busy to pray.
– Never become too discouraged to pray.
– Never become too depressed to pray.
– Guard your communion with God above everything else.

Prayer is not merely a Christian activity; it is the lifeline of every believer. The more we pray, the stronger our fellowship with God becomes, the clearer His voice becomes, and the greater our victory over life’s battles.

May the Lord revive our prayer altars and grant us grace to remain faithful in His presence.

Blessings always.

Shalom,
