Some scriptures on open rebuke
Mark 8:33
But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
Proverbs 9:7-8
He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself,
And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself.
Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you,
Reprove a wise man and he will love you
1 Timothy 5:20
Those who continue in sin, rebuke in the presence of all, so that the rest also will be fearful of sinning.
1 Timothy 5:1
Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather appeal to him as a father, to the younger men as brothers

BUT why openly rebuke, especially when it has gone on for a while? What is the wisdom in open rebuke?
Because of this scripture:
Hebrews 12:15
Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace (His unmerited favor and spiritual blessing), in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it—
Bitterness pollutes and gives rooms for the accuser to defile the entire body and a potent hindrance to prayers: When prayers are not answered in our lives, in homes, in churches and in the nation, there is a high likelihood that the hindrances is from us and not from God.
Addendum: _*Pollutes, brings sickness and death. No prayer, medicine or doctors can cure. Especially when we start eating communion in that state.*_
Nothing hurts Christ like disunity fueled by bitterness, hatred and lovelessness amongst brethren.
