Quotes on Repentance and Revival:

“For everyone shall be salted with fire. Salt is good (beneficial), but if salt has lost its saltness, how will you restore [ the saltness to] it? Have salt within yourselves, and be at peace and live in harmony with one another” – Jesus Christ in Mark 9:49,50

“As you are in the secret place and meditating in the

word, God will use the fire of circumstances mixed with

the fire of His word to reveal your hidden faults to you” – Bob

“No evil dooms us hopelessly except the evil we love, and desire to continue in, and make no effort to escape from. ”

― George Eliot, Daniel Deronda

“Accomplishments don’t erase shame, hatred, cruelty, silence, ignorance, discrimination, low self-esteem or immorality. It covers it up, with a creative version of pride and ego. Only restitution, forgiving yourself and others, compassion, repentance and living with dignity will ever erase the past.”― Shannon L. Alder

“It may well be that we will have to repent in this generation. Not merely for the vitriolic words and the violent actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence and indifference of the good people who sit around and say, “Wait on time.”

― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches

So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin.” – James, the brother of Jesus Christ in James 4:17

“The heavens will not be filled with those who never made mistakes but with those who recognized that they were off course and who corrected their ways to get back in the light of gospel truth.” ― Dieter F. Uchtdorf

“If you are renewed by grace, and were to meet your old self, I am sure you would be very anxious to get out of his company.”
― Charles H. Spurgeon

“But the man who is not afraid to admit everything that he sees to be wrong with himself, and yet recognizes that he may be the object of God’s love precisely because of his shortcomings, can begin to be sincere. His sincerity is based on confidence, not in his own illusions about himself, but in the endless, unfailing mercy of God.”

― Thomas Merton, No Man Is an Island

“The world is full of men who want to be right, when actually the secret of a man’s strength and his pathway to true honor is his ability to admit fault when he has failed. God wants to fill the church with men who can say they are wrong when THEY ARE WRONG. A man who is willing to humble himself before God and his family and say: “I was wrong.” will find that his family has all the confidence in the world in him and will much more readily follow him. If he stubbornly refuses to repent or admit he was wrong, their confidence in him and in his leadership erodes.”

― Jim Anderson, Unmasked: Exposing the Cultural Sexual Assault

“The church is not a theological classroom. It is a conversion, confession, repentance, reconciliation, forgiveness and sanctification center, where flawed people place their faith in Christ, gather to know and love him better, and learn to love others as he designed.”

― Paul David Tripp, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands: People in Need of Change Helping People in Need of Change

“It is not the absence of sin but the grieving over it which distinguishes the child of God from empty professors”

― A.W. Pink

“Until the time where there is no longer a war between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of God; until such time as the war between the flesh and the Spirit has been resolved, there will always be a need for Christian revival in each generation.” – Anonymous

“There is a growing conviction everywhere, and especially among thoughtful people, that unless revival comes, other forces will take the field, that will sink us still deeper into the mire of humanism and materialism.” – Duncan Campbell

“Revival is not just a feeling of excitement of the Lord. We get excited about many things, but excitement is not a revival if God is not the thing that gets us excited.” – Jerry Falwell

“A revival is nothing else than a new beginning of obedience to God.” – Charles Finney

“There can be no revival when Mr. Amen and Mr. Wet-Eyes are not found in the audience.” – Charles Finney

“Until bible Knowledge transits from our heads to our hearts, it remains mere words with no conviction. Conviction is what leads to Confession and eventually Conversion. If there is no Conviction, then we can have no genuine Confession or Conversion and our Repentance is questionable” – Monday Ogwuojo Ogbe – Otakada.org

Key Verses:

Matthew 6:6 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) But when you pray, go into your [ most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open.

Matthew 7:24-27 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) 24 So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a [a]sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock.

25 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

26 And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a stupid (foolish) man who built his house upon the sand.

27 And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great and complete was the fall of it.

Revelation 3:18 Amplified Bible (AMP)

18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold that has been heated red hot and refined by fire so that you may become truly rich; and white clothes [ representing righteousness] to clothe yourself so that the shame of your nakedness will not be seen; and healing salve to put on your eyes so that you may see.

2 Timothy 2:15-21 Amplified Bible (AMP)15 Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [ tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth. 16 But avoid all irreverent babble and godless chatter [ with its profane, empty words], for it will lead to further ungodliness, 17 and their teaching will spread like gangrene. So it is with Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have deviated from the truth. They claim that the resurrection has already taken place, and they undermine the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God [ which He has laid] stands [ sure and unshaken despite attacks], bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord stand apart from wickedness and withdraw from wrongdoing.”

20 Now in a large house there are not only [a]vessels and objects of gold and silver, but also vessels and objects of wood and of earthenware, and some are for honorable (noble, good) use and some for dishonorable (ignoble, common). 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [ which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [ set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

Luke 21:34-35 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

34 But take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the [a]giddiness and headache and [b]nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares pertaining to [ the [c]business of] this life, and [ lest] that day come upon you suddenly like a trap or a noose;

35 For it will come upon all who live upon the face of the entire earth.

1 Peter 2:9 Amplified Bible (AMP)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [ special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [ the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Revelation 1:5-6 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

And from Jesus Christ the faithful and trustworthy Witness, the Firstborn of the dead [first to be brought back to life ] and the Prince (Ruler) of the kings of the earth. To Him Who [a]ever loves us and has [b]once [for all ] loosed and freed us from our sins by His own blood,

And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

Intercession:

Interceding for the Church:

The Church –  Lord Jesus, we desire to love You afresh. We commit to making You the center of our world going forward – Nothing else but You – Holy Spirit, use this lockdown period to rekindle our love for Jesus Christ and those things that have an eternal impact. We declare that we will emerge out of this lockdown revived, spirit, soul, and body, touching our world like never before. So that the world will know and experience a new generation of  Christians who are light bearers and salt of the earth in Jesus name.

Interceding for Church Leaders:

Church leader –  We pray Lord, that the church leadership will reach out to one another outside their usual network and see Jesus in every person that names the name of the Lord. That unity in the body of Christ will be felt by all and our denominations, doctrines, dogmas, etc. will no longer divide us but that the Love for You Lord Jesus will radiate out of us to touch our world so that the world may see that truly Jesus came and we are indeed His image and likeness. That the true love of Jesus Christ will flow out of us to a decaying world around us. Those leaders will point the followers to Jesus, not to themselves and equip them to reach their world…That during this lockdown, God will touch church leaders and turn their hearts back to Him and that they will willingly give Him back His Church in Jesus name. Amen

Interceding for the World:

We pray today Lord God for the lost world, that Your Holy Spirit will begin to convict them of sin because You do not desire that any will perish – 2 Peter 3:9 and draw them to Jesus realizing that He is all in all – The way, the truth and the life.  Holy Spirit, prepare the hearts of believers to receive them into the kingdom lovingly, equipping them through discipleship methods that multiplies in Jesus name, Amen

Now, Am I a Vessel of Honor or Dishonor in Gods House? Let’s do a Litmus Test today to see of the 14 (Fourteen) vessels which one do you belong to in the scheme of God (Gods Kingdom) + 6 (Six) Imprints of True Personal Revival

Note that these types of vessels, whatever type, shape and size are not outside the house of God, they are in the house, enjoying the benefit of the house and fully in the kingdom of God but classified based on some criteria. Let’s look at them and use your imagination to see where you fit.

Remember, we are royal priesthood.  Keep the picture of 1 Peter 2:9 and Revelation 1:5-6 in your imagination.

And from Jesus Christ the faithful and trustworthy Witness, the Firstborn of the dead [ first to be brought back to life] and the Prince (Ruler) of the kings of the earth. To Him Who [a]ever loves us and has [b]once [ for all] loosed and freed us from our sins by His own blood,

And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

The word royal qualifies the type of service the Lord requires from us. The word royal means majestic, noble, magnificent, and splendid. And the type of vessel that will render such service must be vessel unto honor.

There are different types of vessel that the bible talks about as follows see where you belong as you ask the Holy Spirit to alert you in your heart where exactly you belong so that corrective action can be embarked upon thereafter:

(1) The bible talks about vessels unto dishonor. 2Timothy.2:20. This is the vessel that is defiled by sin and unrighteousness.

(2) It talks about broken vessels. Ps.31:12. This is the vessel that is broken and cannot hold anointing anymore. It is broken because of backsliding.

(3) It talks about marred vessels. Jer.18:4. This is talking about the vessel that is marred because of wickedness and evil habits.

(4) It talks about vessels wherein there is no pleasure. Jer.22:28. This is talking about the vessel that God has no pleasure and delight in because it is unworthy and unfit for holy service.

(5) It talks about empty vessels. Jer.51:34. This is talking about the vessel that makes lots of noise but have nothing inside, no grace and power.

(6) It talks about earthen vessels. Lev.6:28. This vessel is earthly and carnal easily broken and have no heavenly value.

(7) It talks about wooden vessels. Lev.15:12. The end of such vessel that is wooden is fire.

(8) Silver vessel. Josh.6:19. This is vessel to serve holy things and is preserved and pure.

(9) Golden vessel. 2Samuel.8:10. This is a godly and holy vessel for glory.

(10) Pleasant vessels. Jer.25:34. This is the vessel that is pleasant in the sight of God and the angels.

(11) Clean vessels. Isaiah.66:20. This is the vessel that is totally cleansed by the blood of Jesus and is worthy for heavenly ministry.

(12) Sanctified vessels. 2Timothy.2:21. This vessel has been purged of all unrighteousness and carnality of the human nature.

(13) Holy vessels. 1Chro.22:19. This is the vessel that is made holy by the grace of God and washed whiter than snow through the blood of Jesus.

(14) Vessels unto honor. 2Timothy.2:21-22.

the question is what type of vessel are you? are you silver, golden, clean, holy, sanctified and pure vessels? worthy or worthless vessel what type are you?

Ask this question as you get into the secret place and dialogue with Him. Get your journal ready to write what promptings you receive from Him.

Now, 6 (Six) Imprints of Personal Revival

1.Repent

Revival is the result of a humbled heart. I’m not talking about an acknowledgement that “Yes, I could do better,” but an acknowledgement of and brokenness over sin. This is when we call the self-life, self-focus, and ongoing pride in our hearts sin—and when we see these as the root of our distance from God.

Repentance is the vomiting of self. It is a disgust of sin that involves godly sorrow and turns us to Christ for cleansing and change.

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.—2 Corinthians 7:10

We usually like to skip over anything that has to do with repentance. Yeah, I know I need to be right with God, but I think I’m doing pretty good in my spiritual walk. Yet, when Christ called the church at Ephesus back to their first love, He didn’t skip over repentance. We shouldn’t either.

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.—Revelation 2:5

2. Exalt Christ

A revived heart has an overwhelming desire to exalt Jesus more than anything else—including more than the idol of self. A revived heart sees Christhigh and lifted up.

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.—Isaiah 6:1–3

When revival comes, we won’t be talking about revival, but about Jesus.

Exalting Christ includes loving Him with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength (Mark 12:30) and walking with Him moment by moment so that our life revolves around Him. Colossians 3:4 tells us that Christ is our life. Corporately, too, we are to exalt Christ as we worship with our church family and give the preaching of His Word full entrance in our hearts.

Henry Blackaby said, “Powerful preaching is a hallmark of true revival. Revival preachers demonstrate their commitment to the authority and sufficiency of the Scriptures, with bold, urgent, and uncompromising preaching, as they set before God’s people the way of life and death. Powerful, Spirit-filled sermons concerning sin, Christ, and the cross penetrate the hearts of the saved and lost alike with the realities of eternity.”

There is no revival without making Christ preeminent and His Word primary.

3. Value Christ

We show what we value by what we seek first—our priorities. Christ calls us to seek Him and His kingdom first.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.—Matthew 6:33

When we value Christ, we’ll not only seek Him, but we’ll make His passion our passion and His mission our mission. We’ll seek after souls for His kingdom personally and regularly.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.—Luke 19:10

We cannot say we value Christ if we do not value the work that He came to earth to do.

4. Intercede

I have never heard of a revival that was not preceded by intercessory prayer and did not result in a renewal of prayer among God’s people.

So could I ask you a personal question: how’s your prayer list? Is it indicative of ongoing intercessory prayer for your church, your community and leaders, those you lead and serve?

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;—1 Timothy 2:1

Even more important, how’s your prayer life? Is it consistent? Growing? It is not possible that a revived Christian will be a non-praying Christian.

5. Volunteer

When Isaiah saw the Lord “high and lifted up” in Isaiah 6, three things happened: First, he responded in repentance (verse 4). (Incidentally, this was also the response of Job and Peter when they came face-to-face with the greatness of God.) Second, he was purified with a coal from off the altar. And finally, he volunteered to serve (verse 8).

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.—Isaiah 6:8

Revival always results in a voluntary spirit of service for Christ. When we see Christ as He is, we realize the privilege it is to serve Him, and we have no greater desire than to remain faithful to Him. We return to a servant’s heart as we remember our eternal reward of hearing, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…” (Luke 19:17).

6. Evangelize

It is no true revival that does not result in lost people coming to Christ. This is true for two reasons:

First, true revival gives a renewed emphasis on the spread of God’s Word.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.—Isaiah 55:11

And second, revived hearts make much of Christ and His mission.

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.—Psalm 126:6

When revival comes, ministry flows from our hearts to our hands. We not only love the gospel, but, with believing, sincere hearts, we share it. And when that sharing is accompanied by the filling of the Holy Spirit, souls will be saved. It may not happen immediately, but eventually, there will be fruit to the glory of God.

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.—John 15:8

Do you desire a revived heart? Do you long for the reviving work of God in your life and ministry? We can humble ourselves before the Lord and ask for His reviving work of grace.

For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.—Isaiah 57:15

Now, The Secret of Escalated Repentance

Repentance (metanoia) called for throughout the Bible is a summons to a personal, absolute and ultimate unconditional surrender to God as Sovereign. Though it includes sorrow and regret, it is more than that. … In repenting, one makes a complete change of direction (180° turn) toward God.

Repentance consists of:

(1) a true sense of one’s own guilt and sinfulness;

(2) an apprehension of God’s mercy in Christ;

(3) an actual hatred of sin (Psalms 119:128 ; Job 42:5 Job 42:6 ; 2 co 7:10 ) and turning from it to God; and

(4) a persistent endeavor after a holy life in walking with God in the way of his commandments.

Eight times the Scriptures enjoin us, “Take heed to your selves” (Exodus

19:12; Deuteronomy 4:23; 11:16; Jeremiah 17:21; Luke; 21:34; Acts 5:35; 20:28). Two of those times the words are spoken by Jesus Himself. This taking heed to oneself is a primary function of the secret place.

Prayer is the constant calibration of the soul. It is a lifestyle of stopping and taking candid spiritual inventory. Prayer is the exercise of one who has a healthy fear of God and a  desire for glorious heights of intimacy with God.

The follower of Jesus is constantly testing himself for spiritual fervor, alertness, faithfulness, purity, love, obedience, growth in grace, etc.

Here’s some excellent counsel: Become a good repenter.

The only way to move forward in God is through repentance.  Don’t allow pride get in the way.

Pride hinders you from repenting, get over it. Call your sin in its worst possible terms. Just repent. Be naked before Him, don’t follow Adam and Eves example of hiding from His presence – We can’t hide from His presence – He fills the earth.

We always live far below Gods glory most of the time.  Take for instance Philip and Jesus and the multiplication of bread.

“Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?’ But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do” (John 6:5- 6). Jesus was testing Philip, to see if Philip was living in the glory territory.

Philip would have to live in another dimension to know the answer to the test, which was simply, “Lord, just break open these loaves and fish and multiply them for the multitude.” Philip failed the test because his thoughts were a universe below those of Jesus (Isaiah 55:9). Then I saw it so clearly: I am failing the Philip test virtually every day! I am so earthbound in my perspectives that I am almost oblivious to the dimension of glory in which Jesus lives. It’s safe to assume that apart from God’s grace I am constantly falling short of the excellence of God’s glory. Do I need to repent continually? Of course, yes!

Beloved, I pray you might gain the secret of escalated repentance. Ready repentance opens the channels for intimate communion with God. When you’re in the secret place, be quick to confess your unbelief and hardness of heart. Don’t make Him talk you into it. Agree quickly with Him in the way.

When I speak of escalated repentance, I am not thinking of repenting from sins like lying, fornication, stealing, cursing, pornography, hatred, drunkenness, etc. Those sins are so obvious that you don’t even need the conviction of the Holy Spirit to know you’re in disobedience. God’s word regarding those sins is blatantly clear. Sincerity and a clear conscience doesn’t even begin until we deal with these kinds of outward sins.

No, I am not talking about obvious sins; I am talking about  repenting from our Iniquities . The hidden faults that we don’t see, the wicked residue of our fallen nature that discolors the fabric of our thoughts, motives, feelings, responses, and desires.

Iniquities are wrapped up in much more Subtle areas of sinfulness, such as pride, rebellion, unbelief, envy, selfishness, ambition, and covetousness.

We all have hidden pockets of iniquity, and we need God’s help to see them. You can’t repent of something you don’t see, so God will help you to see them.

God has many ways of bringing our iniquities to the surface where we can see them, and those ways are summarized under fire. How God uses fire to surface our iniquities is the subject of this passage:

“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and, ‘Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.’ But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy 2:19-21).

Paul is saying the Christian life is founded on two powerful realities: We are known by Christ, and we depart from iniquity when we see it.

Jesus said in Mark 9:49 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

49 For everyone shall be salted with fire.

As you gaze upon His perfection and beauty, you will suddenly see yourself in a

whole new light. You will sense His unconditional acceptance despite your weaknesses, but also His firm commitment to conform you into the image of Christ. At that moment you are standing at the threshold of a wonderful opportunity: This is a time to embrace escalated repentance – A repentance that is instantaneous – A repentance that happens before you even open your mouth to say, “ 1 am sorry”.

Repentance becomes the opportunity to turn from things that have been hindering love, and as such, repentance becomes the catalyst for a greater and more profound intimacy than we’ve known to this point with God. When we repent quickly of those things God’s word is revealing, we experience the pleasure of the Father in a palpable way.

The light of His countenance touching our hearts causes us to actually feel His delight in our responsiveness.

As we repent of the iniquities that the fire surfaces, we are actually buying gold in the fire (Revelation 3:18). A consistent pattern of escalated repentance will cause us to become a vessel of gold or silver, useful to the Master for noble purposes. Those who resist repentance do not necessarily lose their salvation, it’s just that they do not progress beyond being vessels of wood or clay. They are useful to the Master only for dishonorable purposes (in a great house there is a need even for toilet plungers and dust pans).

The assurance of the above passage is clear: Escalated repentance from iniquity will cause us to progress forward to more noble purposes in God’s great house and will deepen our knowing relationship with Him.

Now, experience all round-success this week and beyond as You are led by your closest friend – The Holy Spirit!

Remember, we are one in Christ Jesus – Only in unity we can have lasting and far reaching impact – Engage!

Ephesians 4:4-6 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) [ There is ] one body and one Spirit—just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received—[ There is ] one Lord, one faith, one baptism,One God and Father of [ us ] all, Who is above all [ Sovereign over all ], pervading all and [ living ] in [us] all.
