Now, prayer session
Before we begin, I would like us to include these prayer items during our personal prayers in our prayer closets in the secret place concerning the days and the months ahead and also in group prayers as well. I will not get into specifics here as to what I saw but I have outlined these into intercession prayers which really is what we need as watchmen and watchwomen in Gods vineyard, as this is specifically for the Church of Jesus Christ.
- Pray to subvert and avert suicidal tendencies among Christians as the economic realities dawn on many. Ask the Lord to provide the staying power and a focus on Him by His grace as they develop roots deep down within that nothing can uproot at this time despite the current and future shaking.
- Pray for Christians, that they will be their neighbor’s keeper with discernment and reach out in love to the hurting and those in personal difficulty with the love of Christ.
- Pray that Christian will not get drawn into harmful addiction of drinking and drug addiction that will lead many to take steps that are ungodly and regrets.
- Pray that we will be accountable and not cut corners as God grants us staying power by grace as we are willing
- Pray for Christians that as we are already in the middle of examination, we will come out in flying colors as revival breakout and will be sustained beginning from our churches around the world and subsequently to leadership and the people of the lands.
- Speak divine healing and restoration in the name of Jesus, that no disease and harm will come near our homes as we proclaim healing to the sick and wholesome restoration to their spirit, soul and body.
- Pray for Christian livelihoods, that they will thrive through the downtown and come up tops when all is said and done in Jesus name, Amen
Now, before we explore the Importance of prayers and basic strategies to biblical counseling, let’s quickly look at The Prophetic significance of George Floyd’s Death – Black Lives Matter Movement, what specific events to expect going forward and the need for inner healing As A Result Of 401 Years Of Slavery And Racism.
On the 21st of May 2020, during my morning devotion, the Lord drew my attention to the book of Ezekiel chapters 29, 30, 31 and 32 concerning deep rooted pride in the African people, His judgment and restoration. As it relates to the plight of the blackman in Africa over the years – A very recent name change indeed, known then as the Egypt with province of Ethiopia and others forming a formidable empire that conquered the then known world.
This prophecy by Ezekiel was in the land of Babylon because he was taken as one of the captives and it was in the year approximately 571 B.C. This prophecy came over some period and it is graphical relating to the plight of the African people over the years based on Gods orchestration and sovereignty. Take time to read through the 4 chapters and Isaiah 18 and 19 to give you depth of understanding.
Civilization started in Africa by black Africans. So, how did the mighty fall? That was of interest to me. The first mention of the dominance of the African was with Nimrod – He is described as the son of Cush, grandson of Ham, and great-grandson of Noah; and as “a mighty one in the earth” and “a mighty hunter before the Lord”.

8 Cush became the father of Nimrod; he was the first to be a mighty man on the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.
I have known before now through the study of history that the current occupants of modern-day Egypt are occupation forces drawn from mixtures of Syria, Babylon, Greece, Roman, German, Dutch, Spanish, Portugal, and finally the British and others.
I could not put a scriptural backing to the ravaging of the African nations and her sons and daughters that were taken abroad to all the four winds of the earth and continue till this very day. The huge and the mighty, the skilled and the smart ones were taken living the feeble ones behind.
In fact, the occupants of Egypt during the 400 years’ slavery of the Jews were black Africans, then known as Egyptians. The pyramids were designed and built by them, together with the Israelis.
The first prophecy concerning the judgement on Egyptians (Africans) was foretold by God Himself in Genesis 15:13,14 – It reads – Then Jehovah told Abram, “Your descendants will be oppressed as slaves in a foreign land for 400 years. But I will punish the nation that enslaves them, and at the end they will come out with great wealth.”
FastTrack to Exodus 1:8-11 Reads ..Then, eventually, a new king came to the throne of Egypt who felt no obligation to the descendants of Joseph. He told his people, “These Israelis are becoming dangerous to us because there are so many of them. Let’s figure out a way to put an end to this. If we don’t, and war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us and escape out of the country. So, the Egyptians made slaves of them and put brutal taskmasters over them to wear them down under heavy burdens while building the cities of Pithom and Rameses as supply centers for the king.
The first ravaging of Africa took place in
Exodus 12:35,36 And the people of Israel did as Moses said and asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing. And the Lord gave the Israelis favor with the Egyptians, so that they gave them whatever they wanted. And Egyptians were practically stripped of everything they owned!
The exact dates according to prophecy with 30 years added was fulfilled in Exodus 12:40,41 – The sons of Jacob and their descendants had lived in Egypt 430 years, and it was on the last day of the 430th year that all of Jehovah’s people left the Land
The decline of Egypt’s influence began this day but not immediately. Her influence was still strong around the world until Isaiah prophesied again concerning the destruction of the nation of Egypt and Ethiopia and the obliteration of their influence and the return to the God of Israel in Isaiah 18 and 19. This was about 681 B.C. Just shy of 100 years before Ezekiel’s prophecy in 571 B.C.
By 1500 A.D, Africans were being sold as slaves, by the Spaniards, Portuguese and subsequently the British empire. The middle eastern raiders also took their hold on the continent in far earlier times. The blacks were taken to plantations in Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Bermuda, and subsequently to the United State.

August 2020 will mark 401 years of documented black slavery into the USA. Do you see a relationship between 400 years the Israelis suffered in the hands of the Egyptians, our African brothers and sisters and 400 years of slavery the Africans have had to endure in foreign lands and what is taking place now?

Do you see that judgment is served and the cloak is now removed over the face of all people concerning racism – that favor is upon black courses for freedom and retribution around the world? Do you see the finger of God in all of this, that God’s name is being glorified in all of this? The sons of the West coast of Africa are lighting up revival in America and worldwide that will reverberate across the globe.
I see churches – black American, white American, Latino, purple and pink coming together like never before which will hit the white house and other governments around the world like a storm in the name of Jesus Christ
I see major changes within the US that Trump will enact – He is Cyrus for the African Americans – They might not see this now as he opens up and break up the gates of brass. (Isaiah 45). I see Trump’s re-election taking place because God still has work for Him to do. I see compensation coming to African nations if they will demand it in the name of Jesus Christ. – This is a Kairos moment
The black community must have to go through an internal healing process, a task for the Church of Jesus Christ as there are many wounded people in that community. Wounds that are locked for 4 centuries – It is not an overnight affair but God can orchestrate it in a way we would know is His finger at work. Africans both home and abroad have a strategic slot for Gods end time move of revival and it is already taken shape. May this movement culminate into souls and more souls added to the kingdom as the church sees and propelled to be the agent of change in Jesus name, Amen
Now, let’s explore The Importance of Prayer and Basic Biblical Counseling strategies to consider
The Importance of prayer:
Prayer is not only the spiritual life blood for all believers, it is vital in biblical counseling. Prayer, along with the Word of God and the ministry of the Holy Spirit, is what makes counseling truly Christian.
Before the session. The Bible declares that “,,, our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but…against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12) . Spiritual warfare will be waged in every counseling session because you are battling for the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical well-being of counselees.
Ask the Holy Spirit to release the spirit of wisdom and understanding in preparation for the counseling session. Ask God to fight the battle for you. The real battle of spiritual warfare in counseling is won in private in prayer before the session ever begins. Intercede for the person you are to counsel. “Intercession may be defined as holy, believing, persevering prayer whereby someone pleads with God on behalf of another or others who desperately need God’s intervention.” (Full Life Bible).
Opening the session. Pray with and for the counselee when you start the counseling session. This sets the focus, acknowledging that both the counselor and the counselee are looking to God for guidance.
During the session. Prayer can be incorporated during the session as specific problems are discussed. Deal with issues immediately in prayer. This gets the counselee’s focus back on God instead of his problems.
Allow the Holy Spirit to speak through you in prayer and speak to you about the issues you are addressing. He is the resident Counselor and scriptures confirm that…
…the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
(Romans 8:26-27, NKJV)
It is the will of God that is being sought in counseling, and the Holy Spirit accurately prays that will into being. So allow the Holy Spirit to intercede through you as you counsel.
Concluding the session. The session should always end with prayer by both the counselor and the counselee. The counselor should pray for the counselee and incorporate summary statements regarding issues discussed into his prayer. Inviting the counselee to pray concerning their problems will help them learn to communicate with God for themselves. If a person is uncomfortable with praying audibly, dedicate a few minutes of quiet time before ending the session so the counselee can pray silently about the issues that have been discussed.
The Strategies of a Biblical Counselor:
The strategies of a biblical counselor are based on the Word of God. Here are some basics to guide your counseling ministry.
Start every session with prayer. This establishes that the interchange is not just to be a discussion of various options or opinions on an issue. Express your reliance upon the power of God, and expect that power to be manifested as you counsel. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance, because what you see or hear on the surface may not be the real problem. Ask for divine revelation of the true issues that need to be addressed.
Ask questions. Jesus did this–not because He didn’t know the answer–but to help a person seeking help to clarify their need.
Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God. (Luke 18:40-43)
If the counselee tends to ramble, questions will help them refocus on the subject of concern. Ask the person to state a problem clearly: “My problem is…..” Restate the problem in a manner that you and the counselee can agree on, such as: “As I understand it, you are saying that your problem is…..”
Stop, look, and listen. Jesus modeled this when He took time to stop and listen to the cries of desperate people, and to look beyond the surface appearances to identify their true needs. Sometimes, all that someone needs is a person to listen to them, rather than to dispense advice (Job 31:35). Do not judge, criticize, or condemn. Just listen. You do not have to fill a void of silence if one occurs. Allow times of silence in order for the counselee to think and for the Holy Spirit to provide direction. Don’t interrupt, rather hear them out (Proverbs 18:13). Pay attention to how they express the facts and their feelings. Sometimes a counselee will actually talk themselves into their own biblical solution!
Deal with root causes. As you have learned in this introductory section, it is vital that root causes be identified and dealt with. For example, a man may appear to be concerned about his marriage, but his appearance may indicate that he has been drinking heavily. His root problem may not be his marriage, but rather his addiction to alcohol.
Dealing with the root problem of sin is a priority. When a bedridden man was brought to Jesus for healing, the Lord perceived that his sin was the priority rather than his physical condition:
A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:1-5)
Jesus dealt with the sin problem first, then He healed the paralytic man.
When Jesus asked the crippled man at the pool of Bethesda if he wanted to be healed, his answer was not a resounding “Yes!” Instead he said, “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me” (John 5:7). This man was so busy complaining and feeling sorry for himself that he didn’t realize who was standing right there before him. He was looking for a person to help him, rather than looking to God. After Jesus healed this lame man, He told him, “… See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you” (John 5:14). Not all infirmity is caused by personal sin (John 9:3), but apparently this man’s disability was a result of his sin.
Identify the problems. Through prayer, attentive listening, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit clarify the issues troubling the counselee.
Ask what the person has done to try to solve their problem. If the methods are unscriptural, point out that there is no need to try these methods again since they did not work. Direct them towards biblical solutions. If they have tried biblical solutions and given up, emphasize the importance of perseverance in securing spiritual victories (Matthew 15:22-28). Do not criticize other counselors, pastors, chaplains, ministries or agencies. Concentrate on responding positively rather than minimizing what others have tried to do or failed to do for them.
Provide counsel based on God’s Word. There are two main approaches to counseling, directive and non-directive:
Directive counseling: The counselor tells the person what to do. The counselor assumes more of a dominant role, using the Word of God as the source of authority. Confrontation, challenge, and admonition characterize this approach.
Non-directive counseling: The counselor guides the counselee in arriving at solutions based on the Word of God. The counselor is more of a facilitator than an initiator. Encouragement, support, and empathy characterize this approach.
So which approach is best? It is not an either/or question. Each method has limitations, but both can be used effectively with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The Apostle Paul provides a good model of this. In some cases he aggressively confronted and commanded people to conform to God’s Word. In others, he guided them as a father does a child to arrive at the proper solution (1 Thessalonians 2:7-12).
Jesus was directive with those who were hard-hearted and rebellious–people like the Pharisees and Sadducees (Matthew 15:1-20). With others, He was non-directive, using questions to draw them out and allowing them see what was in their hearts (John 4:1-26).

For example, if their battle is with anger, use the “Anger” topic in the database. If they are having an affair, use the topic of “Adultery”. Through sharing specific insights, a natural flow of conversation will ensue during which you can explain how the scriptures can be effectively applied to their problems. Sharing from your own personal experience, if applicable, may be helpful. But remember: It is not your experiences that will provide solutions to problems–it is God’s Word.
You do not have to provide an immediate answer for every issue raised by the counselee. You may have to tell a person that you need to research a certain problem more thoroughly in the Word of God. It is better to say nothing, than to say the wrong thing. Constantly check what you are advising with the database we will provide , from elsewhere and your ultimate counseling guide, the Word of God.
Develop a plan of action. Once a problem has been discussed and scriptural counsel given, a plan of action should be developed on the basis of the Word of God. Do not make this complex. What is a simple first step which can be taken towards the solution to their problem? For example: Do they need to ask forgiveness of someone? Encourage them to do so. Do they need to make restitution? Formulate a plan.
No two problems are exactly alike, so no two plans of action will be identical. All action steps, however, should be based upon God’s Word. By the end of a counseling session there should be a plan–even if it is a very small step–that can be made to institute change. To be most effective, the counselor should follow-up on the plan, holding the counselee accountable to take the steps agreed upon in a timely manner.
Conclude the session in prayer. Pray for the counselee. Be specific in your prayer. If they need deliverance, pray a prayer of deliverance. If they need forgiveness for sin, lead them in a
prayer regarding this. If they need to forgive others, pray a pray of relinquishment and forgiveness. Have the counselee pray audibly or silently, whichever they feel most comfortable doing.
Provide the counselee with feedback from the session. Provide the counselee with feedback on the topic or topics with which you dealt in counseling. This will enable them to study further on biblical principles relating to their problems. Add to the feedback the action steps which you have agreed upon and a realistic timeline in which these might be completed. Print a hardcopy of the document or email it to the counselee.
CONFIDENTIALITY ISSUES
Whether you are a professional biblical counselor, chaplain, minister, or simply a believer helping others, you must keep counseling sessions confidential.
In most countries, a certified doctor, lawyer, counselor, and minister are protected by law from being forced to reveal confidential information shared by a client. Check the confidentiality laws of your nation.
The following are exceptions to confidentiality–legal or moral obligations where you should break the rule of confidentiality:
–Child abuse or molestation: Report this to the proper authorities immediately.
–Suicide in progress: If you receive a telephone call of a suicide in progress, keep the caller on the line and talking with you while you have someone else dial emergency services to dispatch assistance. Use Appendix One we will provide in due cause for guidelines in handling this type of counseling call.
–Violence in progress: If you receive a counseling call where violence is in progress, keep the caller on the line and have someone else call emergency services to dispatch assistance.
Prayer
Father, thank You for helping us to build our intimate needs of significance, self-worth and security on you. Lord Jesus, You are the mighty counselor, the everlasting Father, the king of Kings and the lord of Lords, you have commanded us to be your ambassador and to represent you correctly. Lord, we pray that you will equip us through the subseries to be all that you have called us to be and to do in Jesus name. Give us a teachable heart that learns, apply to ourselves first and to other Lord, God. We pray that as a result of our effectiveness, more souls will be added to the kingdom, the backslidden will be restored to the glory of Your name. We pray concerning the sin of racism and injustice everywhere and the current movement instigated by George Floyd’s death. We pray and declare that Georges death and the death of many will not be in vain as you use this to draw souls to yourself in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord we ask that this movement will catapult into revival in our churches, hitting the sits of government and to the larger communities around the world in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord grants favors upon favors upon those who are marginalized as a result of their skin color, race or ethnicity. We pray for emancipation of the people of African as a result of this that will lead to renewed mind and transformation on the continent of African the world has never seen before in the name of Jesus. We declare inner healing that originate as a result of forgiveness, repentance and bring all the hurt to the cross of Jesus Christ Lord God. We declare the hurting healed in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you for we know you will do exceedingly, abundantly and above all that we can even ask or think according to your sovereign will for these times and seasons in Jesus name, amen
