Friends, yesterday, it rained like no man or woman’s business.
It rained to the point where one major heavy thunderstorm hit something so powerfully that a message and a lesson came to me from that one single mighty strike … It is this..
The tallest or highest standing structure usually get hit. It does not matter if it is a building, a tree or a person … probably on a golf course, playing golf when it is raining..
In the front line, where bullets are flying all over the place, the safest place to be is to lie low – flat down.
In a thunderstorm, what a risk we face if there are no adjourning taller structures around to provide some level of cover..
When it hits, it usually destroys the TALLEST structure and anything surrounding that target structure gets touched as well.
What lesson did I draw from yesterday’s thunderstorm?
Here is it..
Pride means standing tall, wanting to stand above others with a load of self-importance, self- righteousness, self-praise, self-security and self-everything before God, everyone and everything else. The bottom line is that self rules a prideful person motive 24/7.
Pride led to the downfall of Lucifer, the anointed cherub, responsible for worship, and who became Satan, the fallen angel – read Isaiah 14:12 ..a covering angel…he was perfect in beauty read Ezekiel 28:13-19 – gives description of how beautiful he was before the fall and perfect in wisdom… His whole being was made from precious stone..
When Lucifer walks or speaks, it is a walk and words of worship unto God for creating such a beauty for worship..
Lucifer felt that the praise should go to him and not his maker…so he rebelled and a third of the heavenly host-angels fell with him, who are now demons amongst us..actively recruiting rebellion against their maker..
By my approximate calculation (I mean my estimate based on numbers scattered all across scripture), a third of the heavenly host will amount to over 300billion fallen angels – no wonder, the mad man of Gadara in the land of the Gadarenes had over 12,000 demons in him which Jesus cast out with one word into the pigs…the pigs could not contain them, the pigs drowned. one single man could house 12000 demons.
Think about that for a moment..also, from one Mary, seven demons made her their domain until Jesus cast them out.
The number of demons surpasses human by tens of thousands. They are actively looking for human bodies day and night to exercise their ministry of killing, stealing and destroying with ultimate objective of having them serve him here and in hell at final judgment- he knows this.
They can excercise their ministry by thought projection or by inhibition or total possession of the host. For born again Christians, they can project until the born again Christian falls to the temptation, then the host become a house where they can reside and operate – partially or fully.
Jesus alluded to this when He said, “How can a man enter a strong man’s house except he first bound the strongman and then he can posses him of his goods.”
Satan is the prince of the power of the air…when he goes looking for whom to devour, pride is usually one of the doorway that the devil and his host of fallen angel uses to come in to wreck havoc.. .He is already judged and hell was prepared for him, the demons and all those who submit to him as Lord and master.
Many are taken in pride because of earthly achievement but the deadly of all is the sin of unforgiveness which plague us Christians like deadly virus.. ..offense will continue to all..Christian or non Christian.. It is how we respond to the offense that determines if we are truly Gods chosen vessel by agreement through Christ.
The sin of unforgiveness is so potent and powerful that the Bible warns that when we are angry, we should not sin, we should not allow the sun go down on our anger…
why is that? Because, that anger, becomes a dark force that attracts the forces of darkness to attack the person to whom we are angry against and we get defiled and others around us get defiled as well.. It does not matter who is at fault..a dark force is a dark force and in the spirit realm, that force stands as a tall structure that Satan, the god of this world, the prince of the power of the air, like thunder, strike for domination..especially those who are opposed to him and have made Jesus Lord and master..
That was the reason Jesus came..to destroy the work of Satan ..read
1 John 3:8,9 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
9No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.
You remember the story of the Gibeonites and Israelis. The Gibeonites tricked Joshua into signing a peace treaty with them when they were entering the promised land. Read this in Joshua 9:3-16
Joshua did not consult with the Lord before signing the agreement but the Lord told Joshua he must stand with that treaty, no matter what.
We must be careful not to jump into binding agreement either spoken or written…it binds us to keep and fulfill whatever is in that agreement..
Except we take it to the cross of Christ, we are bound..even if our parent got into it outside our knowledge, or before we were born, we are bound as children by blood line except we take it to the cross…the bloodline of Jesus – the sinless lamb of God that was crucified for the sins – past, present and future. It does not matter if we are spirit filled and can blast tongues for 24/7, 365 days in the year…it must be taken to to cross at calvary…the Holy Spirit can reveal to us if something is amiss just as He did for David, a man to whom the Spirit of God came upon from time to time.
Now we have the Holy Spirit living and breathing inside of us…it makes divine revelation and insight into causes very, very easy. But we must ask..God does not violate our will..He comes along side us…if we refuse to move forward, He will let us be and we live with the consequences…. When we decide to sin, we have full right to do so but we don’t have a single dot of control over the consequences that follow exercising our free will to sin or not to sin.
Years down the line, Saul broke that treaty and began killing the Gibeonites..
Some years down the line, David, a man after God’s heart, took the rein of the nation and suffered famine in the land for three (3) full, solid years…everybody suffered and were defiled.
David inquired from the Lord what was responsible for this 3 years famine? The Lord told David that Saul broke the agreement Joshua made with the Gibeonites and killed them during his rein as king.. .
In the spirit of pursuing peace with all people, David went to the Gibeonites to make peace.. The Gibeonites requested that 7 (seven) of dead king Saul’s male children or his lineages be brought to them for hanging.. After this action, the famine ended.
You can read the account in 2 Samuel 21:1-9
It is tough to forgive someone who did you wrong, it takes lying low, with humility to forgive those who have done you wrong and still don’t accept that they have offended you and keep on offending you… Jesus said, “Forgive.”
That is the minimal standard Jesus brought to bear in the new testament or the new covenant…He demonstrated it for us all to see, so also his early disciples.
He did not come to go contrary to the Law He Himself established with the Father and the Holy Spirit but He came to bring it full circle… To establish it for what it is..
Every law of God is not meant to destroy us but to protect us..Those laws are like boundaries for us to stay in the loving arm of the Father God..Every relationship have boundaries (spoken and unspoken), a boundary-less relationship is heading for the rocks, in a matter of time..
Unforgiveness is one of the main reason prayers go unanswered and the main reason many will not see God, even if they have confessed Christ as Lord and master…
Jesus said our confession should match up our walk..if not, our faith is dead before we even started.
He says those are His disciples who do what he tells them to do and follow His example in living and in dying also. God will not break His laws for us..His laws are absolute, they are unbreakable and applies to everyone..Just like the natural laws of our universe cannot be broken. When we go against natural law, we just demonstrated that the law exist – It does not matter if we are Believers or Unbelievers.
Jesus came to deliver us from the curses that accrue as a result of breaking the law of God but we must take it to Him at the cross by repenting and mean it from our hearts..
Let’s look at some scriptures to help nail down the message
Matthew 6:15
But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses
Matthew 18:.21-22 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Genesis 50:17
‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: “I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.” ’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.” And Joseph wept when they spoke to him
Hebrews 12:
1¶Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
3¶Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.
4In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
5And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.
6For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
7¶It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
8If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
9Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?
10For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.
11For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
12¶Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,
13and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
14Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
15See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;
16that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal.
17For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.
18¶For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest
19and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them.
20For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.”
21Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.”
22But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,
23and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
24and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
25¶See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven.
26At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”
27This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.
28Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,
29for our God is a consuming fire.
In conclusion, I add this…what if I offended someone or someone offended me and I don’t have access to them any more, or they are dead and gone? I advise that you take the offense to the cross of Christ, repent of it, or forgive the person, dead or living and you are clear..that is the power inherent in the finished work..on the cross at calvary..
A task for you.. Whilst reading this short piece, did the Holy Spirit bring up something to you?
What is it?
Write it down..A short pencil is better than a long memory… More importantly,
what are you going to do about it? Therein lies your deliverance…
If you have any questions from above piece, please send to us an email or whatsapp, we will help bring clarity by the leading of the Holy Spirit
Remember this : – Offenses will arise continually.. Between spouses, families, siblings, relations – far and near, between people of different faiths, between rulers and the ruled with the sole aim of devouring us unawares…
We must be on the alert,we must be sensitive to the warfare we face 24/7, they are fairy darts which if allowed to settle, gives Satan entry to our lives and rob us of all that God has destined for all who seek Him in Spirit and in Truth.
Just like what Jesus said concerning the devil, he must not find anything in us that attracts him to us..light and darkness cannot dwell together in the same host..we are either in one realm or another by the choices we make daily.. That’s why the cross carrying is daily Luke 9:23, Luke 14:27
Finally
_You are not responsible for others action or inaction but you are fully responsible for you and your actions or inactions and only you before God can make amends..make it a responsible one with God today!
It is a daily cross we all have to carry when we make Jesus the Lord and master..Grace comes to those who are willing because the grace Christ provides is not cheap, it cost Him His life on the cross..Dont play meaningless game with Gods grace – You will not be given grace unless you really mean to change what you need grace for.
The Christian walk is a narrow path that very, very few thread..be the one on that narrow path today and you will be glad you did!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Shalom
